Jammu : Manhunt launched to nab SPO who fled with AK-47

Deputy Inspector General of Police, Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban range, Basant Kumar Rath on Sunday said they were on the job to bring back a Special Police Officer who had decamped with an Ak-47 rifle in the Marwah area of Kishtwar.

The SPO, Muhammad Yaseen of Sishlan hamlet in Marwah, had decamped with the rifle late Friday night. Rath said,

“He ran away along with an Ak-47 rifle of another cop, but we will bring him back within one or two days.”

The police have launched a massive manhunt to nab him in the Marwah area, which remains cut off from the rest of the state for around six months.

Meanwhile, the security forces have been put on high alert to avert any eventuality ahead of the Republic Day celebrations in Kishtwar.

DC Angrez Singh said, “In a review meeting with senior officers of police and other security agencies, I have directed them to make fool-proof security arrangements.”
