JAMMU : An 11-year-old school boy today received serious injuries after he was allegedly hit by a speeding Scorpio vehicle which was part of National Conference president Farooq Abdullah’s motorcade at the Bajalta area, on the outskirts of Jammu city.
The victim, identified as Yasin, a resident of Bain Bajalta, was returning home from the school when he was allegedly hit by the speeding vehicle.
He has suffered fracture in his leg and head injuries, he was immediately rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for treatment.
”The injured boy was provided immediate treatment at GMCH after which his family members got him discharged on request and took to a hospital in Amritsar for specialized treatment,
He was being shifted to Amritsar in view of serious injuries. Farooq had gone to the area for extending his condolences to the father of martyr Sohanlal of Assam Rifles, who attained martyrdom in an IED blast in Chandel district of Manipur on November 13, at Sarah Pargalta in Bajalta panchayat of the Nagrota.
While senior police officials remained tight-lipped over the incident, sources said the injured boy was immediately rushed to a hospital in the same car which allegedly hit him.
“The boy was shifted to the hospital. Security personnel, who were part of the Farooq’s cavalcade, brought the boy to the hospital after they were allegedly intercepted by a police party,” sources said. —
