Jammu, Nov 15: On the 4th day of weeklong cleanliness drive programme launched on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Jammu Mandeep Kaur (IAS), drive was conducted in ward no. 56 (Gangyal). The campaign was led by R. S. Jamwal, Joint Commissioner (Adm), Health officer Dr.Saleem Khan, Sanitation Officer, Asstt. Sanitation Officers and other field staff of Municipal Corporation alongwith men & machinery.
The basic objective of the drive is to ensure cleanliness of roads, lanes, bye lanes by sweeping & de-silting in every nook and corner. During this drive large number of residents of area participated and appreciated the work done by Jammu Municipal Corporation under the guidance of Health officer. The people requested for Dustbins, Containers, wheel Barros and men power.
To make this campaign effective at ground level and to enlist the public cooperation for making the areas clean, the people of various walks of society living there were invited to participate in the drive & large number of people participated with dedication.
During campaign R.S Jamwal Joint Commissioner (A), made a appeal to resident welfare association/market association prominent citizens of the area to come forward & help Municipal Corporation Jammu to keep the area neat & clean and also appealed to avoid the use of polythene which is the main cause of choking of drains/nallahs. He also assured to provide the necessary infrastructure in the form of wheel Barros/containers etc with in month times The appeal made by JMC has shown very constructive effects on the people and they assured to cooperate with Municipal staff in keeping the area neat & clean.
Prominent citizens present were Sh. Baldev singh Baloria, Rudhar Mani Sharma, Jaswant Singh Chib, Ranjit Singh, Surjit Kumar, Ashok Kumar, Manohar Meenia, Surinder Bhatti & Public in general alongwith political representatives also appreciated the efforts of the Municipal Corporation in keeping Jammu city neat & clean & assured full cooperation in future also. This drive was launched on the pattern of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan & it will remain continue till 19th of Nov. 2015.
