Jammu, Nov 17: While continuing cleanliness drive apart from routine sanitation drive, JMC today launched an extensive sanitation drive in Shastri Nagar & Nai Basti areas of ward no. 22 & 23 as a part of programme on sustained basis as desired by Hon’ble Chief Minister J&K state, Swachcha Bharat Abhiyan.
On this occasion, a large number of locals were also involved in this awareness cum cleanliness drive to make it a mass movement and the area has been cleaned thoroughly. The Transport Officer was directed by Joint Commissioner (Adm) to clear/desilt the nallahas of the area as pointed out by locals.
Further, a joint anti-encroachment drive has been launched by the Enforcement wing led by Asstt. Commissioner (Rev), alongwith Chief Enforcement Officer, Enforcement Officer in co-ordination with Traffic Police led by Superintendent of Police, Dy. Superintendent of Police & Police force led by the SHO, Pacca Danga & Police force from District Police. During the drive the team seized two truckloads of material, which were found placed by the shopkeepers by encroaching upon footpaths & pavements. Besides, this the Traffic Police filed about 97 nos. of chalans for wrong unauthorized parking of vehicles also lifted 34 nos. of vehicles.
JMC once again appeals to all the shopkeepers not to encroach footpaths & pavements due to the encroachment upon foothpaths & pavements and parking their vehicles on unauthorized places causes difficulties which led to traffic jams and unnecessary delay in regular traffic. JMC also appeals to general public to avoid using polythene as polythene is the major cause of pollution because polythene never decompose due to which pollution spreads our surroundings, and do not throw it into the nallahs/lanes/drains, throwing of polythene causes choking of nallahs and it also create huge problem to inhabitants surroundings there. Stagnation of waste water in nallhs are the habitat of mosquitoes and other germs which can harm us and our infants.
