JAMMU: A General Body Meeting of The Jammu Pharmaceutical Distributors Association was convened at Hotel KC Residency where Ch.Lal Singh , Hon’ble Minister For Health Medical Education ARI and Trainings was the Chief Guest and Sh. Rajesh Gupta MLA East was the Guest of Honour.
The Meeting was also attended by the Controller of Drugs and Food Control Organization Smt. Lotika Khajuria alongwith other officers and inspectors of the department.
The President of JPDA Sh. Rakesh Gupta demanded that in case any medicine fails a quality test then the Wholesaler or the Chemist should be made a witness in the legal proceedings and not be booked as an accused if they have valid purchase records. The President also applauded the role of the Drugs Control department and the members of JPDA for the mutual co operation that helped in containing the sales of habbit forming and intoxicant drugs. He also said that it was necessary that the Health Ministry and the pharma trade work together to provide better health care facilities to the people at large.
The Members of JPDA thanked the Health Minister for his positive efforts in getting the land identified and also getting the funds from GOI for the establishment of AIIMS in Jammu.
Hon’ble Minister Ch. Lal Singh on this occasion explained the practical problems his ministry was being faced with and the corrective measures he was talking in the interest of public health. He reassured one and all that it was his prime duty to provide medicines to the poorest at an affordable cost. He warned any type of nexus between the pharma industry and the doctors. He also explained and informed the process of E Tendering being followed to make the Health Departments accountable and transparent.
