Jammu prepares to welcome PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Jammu and Kashmir for a day on July 17. Highly placed sources told, “The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Jammu city for a day on July 17 to attend the birth centenary celebrations of Girdhari Lal Dogra, a late Congress leader.”
Dogra, a stalwart Congress leader belonged to Kathua district of Jammu province. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is married to Dogra’s daughter. The sources also added that the Prime Minister is likely to announce a mega development package of around Rs. 70,000 crore for Jammu and Kashmir during the visit.
The event will be organized by the Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Trust at General Zorawar Singh Auditorium on varsity campus. The Special Protection Group and Rapid Action Force personnel have doned off the venue and the movement of vehicles has also been restricted. The students and staff members will be allowed to enter the campus only after verifying their identity cards as told by an official. He added that elaborate arrangements are being made to ensure foolproof security.
Modi is also likely to announce an AIIMS for Kashmir Valley and an IIT for Jammu region. The PM will return to New Delhi on the same day.
