Jammu University to have One seat in every course for ‘Single Girl Child’ under JUET

The ‘Single Girl Child’ Scholarship was originally announced by University Grants Commission UGC as Swami Vivekanada Scholarship for girls who are a Single Child to their Parents for students pursuing Doctorate of Philosophy courses in any Recognized University throughout India. Under the Scholarship the candidate would receive Rs. 8000 as a monthly Stipend for the first Two years and Rs. 10000 for the next two.

Taking cue from the same Scholarship program, the University of Jammu, in an attempt to promote the girl child cause has advertised for one seat in every course for ‘Single Girl Child’ candidates albeit without a scholarship. This advertisement is available on their social media page on facebook.

The candidates should be a single girl child to their parents. In a family if there is one son and one daughter, then the girl child will not be considered eligible for the seat in a given course.
