Jammu Weapon Snatching: Know the Culprits



Mohammad Amir, who along with his associates had snatched rifle from a policeman near Tawi Bridge in Jewel Chowk Jammu surrendered before Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian Tahir Saleem.

Three Kashmiri youth identified as Amir, Masood and Shahid, all residents of Shopian district had attacked a police constable named Mohammad Hanief posted as Personal Security Officer of Anjuman Minhaj-e-Rasool chairman Maulana Dehlavi, near the main Tawi bridge in Jammu last week.

The police informed in an interactive session with media that none of the accused who were apprehended had any involvement in militant or criminal activities.


But reportedly, they’ve had a history in stone-pelting.

The police further said that the motive of the detained person was to commit armed robbery. The accused had allegedly planned to snatch rifle in order to commit robbery in Kashmir.

The stolen AK-47 rifle was recovered under a boulder near Tawi bridge in Jammu. The accused had fled to Shopian after the incident where police detained him.

The police informed that the accused managed to escape to Shopian from Jammu by changing his looks to make it appear different from the photos released, also in public viewing.
