JAMMU OCTOBER 06: School of Hospitality and Tourism Management, University of Jammu organized Gastronomia Culinaria- A Food Workshop, for the students of School of Hospitality and Tourism Management under the aegis of Jashn – E – Riyasat celebrations.
Prof. Parikshat Singh Manahas- Director, School of Hospitality & Tourism Management addressed the audience and welcomed the culinary experts from “Chef Association of Five Rivers”. He also emphasised on importance of such like activities to enhance the culinary skills of the students.
The workshop included four sessions wherein the first session was conducted by Chef Varinder Rana from GNA University, Phagwara and Chef Naman Arora from Chandigarh Institute of Hotel Management, Chandigarh on various Italian cuisines and Pizza Acrobat techniques, followed by session on Vegan Food by Chef Jaswinder Singh from Panjab University, Chandigarh and Chef Sunil Arya from Ambedkar Institute of Hotel Management, Chandigarh.
The third session was on Patisserie techniques by Chef Vinod Sidhu from Polka Bakery, Chandigarh.
The last session was about barbecue & grilling by Chef Harpreet Singh Jandu and Chef Rajkumar from Amritsar College for Engineering and Technology, Amritsar.
Later during the day various competitions were held which included “Speak Your Mind”- A Slogan Writing Competition followed by “Exploring the Unexplored”- A PowerPoint Presentation competition in which students from various colleges and departments of university of Jammu made presentations on different tourist destinations of J&K displaying the culture and heritage of the region. Mr. Sachiv Gupta from Travel Green Earth, Ms. Priyanka Mahajan from Cox & Kings Jammu and Ms. Komal Katoch from Makemytrip were the judges for slogan writing competition and the event was coordinated by Ms. Parvinder Kour and Ms. Shuchita Bakshi while Mr. Sunny Heer from TUI, Mr Manjeet Singh from Central University of Jammu and Ms. Neetu Dhar from Skill Arcade were the jury for powerpoint presentation competition and the teacher incharge for the event were Dr. Deepika Gupta and Ms. Priyanka Sharma respectively.
