About half a dozen stone pelters were arrested on Saturday during a Cordoned and Search Operation (CASO) launched in South Kashmir’s Pulwama district, an official sources said.
They said on a tip off about the presence of some militants in the area, Security forces and Special Operation Group(SOG) of Jammu and Kashmir police launched a joint search operation early Saturday morning at Kareemabad, in Pulwama district. All exit points in the are were sealed.
SP Pulwama Mohammad Aslam told that some stone throwers were arrested from the area during the operation “Search operation was conducted to nab stone throwers and militants,” he added.
About half a dozen alleged stone pelters were later taken into custody, they said adding the cordon was later lifted.
However, the local residents protested and alleged that during the CASO security forces damaged some property and beat up villagers.
