JAMMU: Senior BJP leaders from Jammu and Kashmir will meet the party high command in New Delhi on Monday to discuss the political situation in the state after PDP president Mehbooba Mufti sought assurances on the agenda of alliance with the BJP.
“Former deputy chief minister Nirmal Singh, state BJP president Satpal Sharma and Lok Sabha member Jugal Kishore will go and meet the central party leadership in Delhi today (Monday) to discuss the political deadlock in Jammu and Kashmir,” BJP sources told Media Sources here.
They also said the Bharatiya Janata Party leaders will call on Governor N.N. Vohra on Tuesday to apprise him of the party’s stand on the new government’s formation in the state.
The confusion over government formation got confounded when Mehbooba Mufti categorically said on Sunday that she needed assurances on time-bound implementation of the agenda of alliance between the PDP and the BJP.
Meanwhile, Governor N.N. Vohra has asked Mehbooba Mufti to call on him at Raj Bhavan on Tuesday to discuss the political stalemate in the state.
The BJP core group meeting was held in the winter capital today to discuss the political deadlock prevailing in the State of Jammu and Kashmir since January 8. As per reports the meeting held in Gandhi Nagar area saw participation of core group members, including former Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh, former Ministers, MPs and BJP state president, BJP sources said.
The suspense over government formation in the State of J&K gathered a new synergy after PDP Party President Mehbooba Mufti held an All Party Meet yesterday. Mehbooba hinted at trust deficit with BJP, suggesting that she might tell BJP to pack up if the party leadership fails to convince her. The meeting that lasted for four long hours discussed the future scope of alliance.
BJP leaders discussed the situation of uncertainty emerging in the state following suspense over government formation especially after Mehbooba’s and PDP’s ambiguous statements in recent days.
BJP core group also discussed upon what statement to be made to Governor on Tuesday as Governor has called PDP and BJP to come up with their stand on government formation. Following Governor’s orders, the party needs to be be divisive to tackle an move PDP decides to make in the future course. Henceforth the party has deputed three senior leaders to visit Delhi and talk the the central Leadership regarding the same.
As per the speculations, Mehbooba has set certain conditions before BJP including revocation of AFSPA. Mehbooba has raked up the issue at such a crucial time when other state development issues lie in the lurk including government formation.
