J&K : Dental Surgeon booked for corrupt, dubious activities

Vigilance Organization booked a Dental Surgeon for indulging in corrupt and dubious activities by misusing his official position.

A case FIR under Section 5(1) (d) punishable U/S 5(2) J&K PC Act, Svt. 2006, has been registered against Dr Liaqat Ali Khan, Dental Surgeon, son of Mohd Sharif Khan of Gandoh Bhalessa, at present Bhatindi near Makkah Masjid, Jammu.

Besides, the Vigilance also conducted searches at Bhatindi residence of the accused doctor, who was also contacted to remain present but he deliberately remained elusive and at large.

The case was registered after a secret verification by the Vigilance Organization, Jammu on the basis of a complaint lodged by Dr Shafqat Javed, Medical Officer PHC Chatroo, Kishtwar. In the complaint, it was alleged that while being posted as BMO Paddar, District Kishtwar in the year 2016, he was suspended pending enquiry but even after the lapse of two months no enquiry was ordered because of which he was suffering from mental agony.

During those days, he met Dr Liaqat Ali Khan who convinced and assured him that his case would be cleared with his posting as BMO Bhaderwah for which he shall have to pay Rs 5.00 lakhs to him. The complainant, under the forced circumstances transferred the money amounting to Rs 5.00 lakhs from his bank account to the account of Dr Liaqat Ali Khan. But even after taking the money, Dr Liaqat Ali Khan did nothing and after some time vanished in thin air.

The complainant faced the enquiry as per the routine procedure and after being exonerated, was posted as Medical Officer PHC Chatroo, Kishtwar whereas, Dr Liaqat Ali Khan, who was posted in Accidental Hospital Vijaypur, Jammu, and attached with Director Health Services, Jammu, didn’t extended any help to him despite taking bribe of Rs 5 lakh.

It has also been found that the accused Dr. Liaqat Ali Khan carries a reputation of indulging in corrupt practices by managing transfers of officials after obtaining handsome amounts from them, by sheer abuse and misuse of his official position, as a public servant.

The search warrants in this case were obtained by Inspector Kamal Sangra, Investigating Officer from the court of Special Judge Anti Corruption Jammu, Sonia Gupta. Searches at the Bhatindi residence of the accused were done by team headed by DySP H L Pandita under supervision of SSP Vigilance.
