JK Govt indicates that MLA Langate lied about BPL inclusion
Srinagar, June 10: A breach of Privilege motion was requested by Muhammad Akbar Lone of Opposition National Conference on Friday after government said that no ration card was registered in the name of Langate MLA Er Rasheed.
On Thursday, Rasheed had informed the lower house that even his name had featured in the Below Poverty Line (BPL) category in his area. He had asked for action against the concerned Deputy Commissioner.
A Tehsildar was suspended on Thursday, alongwith other officials for including the name of Chhamb lawmaker in the BPL list.
“No ration card is registered in the name of Er Sheikh Ab Rasheed in his constituency,” said Revenue minister Syed Basharat Bukhari.
Syed Bukhari further informed that the ration card is registered in the name of Rashid’s father as against what he had informed. His father is the only member whose name is in the list.
Upon the govt’s response, MLA Sonawari, Akbar Lone quipped that from the government’s response, it can be inferred that either minister is lying or Er Rashid is a liar. Lone further requested to bring a breach of Privilege Motion against the one who has misled the house.
