JAMMU AND KASHMIR AIIMS
Unnerved by the prospects of the three-day bandh the Jammu and Kashmir government seems to have succumbed to the pressure of the people, and thus assured the AIIMS Coordination Committee that AIIMS hospital will be set up in Jammu region, and it will approach the union government to announce this by July twenty. A written assurance in this regard was also given by the state government to the Coordination committee which in response has deferred the 72-hours bandh call from Friday.
The assurance has been made by deputy CM Nirmal Singh, and Forest minister Bali Bhagat who also signed a written documents in this regard, and sought time till July 20 to get this issue resolved.
It may be recalled that AIIMS Coordination Committee was formed on May 20 to press for the establishment of this institution. The people in Jammu region have welcomed the move by the state government and said that this is the just the first step towards ending the discrimination with Jammu region. The people have also warned that government will face similar agitations if it does not refrain from taking parochial decisions.
It may also be kept in mind that the Jammu Bar association has a strong track record of success when they put their hands into a matter.
