SRINAGAR, JULY 6: Jammu and Kashmir Government has decided to formulate a New Advertisement Policy to replace the existing policy which was promulgated some two decades back. The New Advertisement Policy would cover the electronic and new media including news portals.
According to Mr Muneer, revisiting and updating the existing Advertisement Policy formulated in 1996 has become imperative in view of the fast-changing media scenario in the State with the new media emerging as a powerful tool of public communication. “The existing policy needs further changes to keep pace with the changing needs,” he said and added that it is with this objective that the department has, on the directions of the Government, begun the process for formulating a New Advertisement Policy, which will for the first time incorporate electronic and new media including news portals.
He said the Committee has decided to involve all the stakeholders in the formulation of the New Advertisement Policy and has sought inputs from the concerned in this regard by 20 July 2015.
