J&K Govt’s 8-point plan to kill traffic jams in state


The traffic situation on the roads of Jammu and Kashmir is worsening every passing day. Especially, the two capital cities Jammu and Srinagar are continuously struggling with chaotic gridlocks and traffic congestion during rush hours. The current vehicle population of 6.02 lakh in Jammu and 2.61 lakh in Srinagar and the state J&K is nearing a 13-lakh mark and growing at a pace of 1.10 lakh per year.

To curb this menace, the government has now devised an 8-point formula that will reduce traffic congestion in the state which is:

Ø  Roadside encroachments will be removed

Ø  More traffics cops to be deputed at the spots with high traffic

Ø  More flyovers to be constructed

Ø  Entry of Trucks and tippers inside the city during peak hours will be banned

Ø  More traffic control devices to be installed

Ø  One way traffic to be allowed on specific routes

Ø  Proper parking spaces to be constructed

Ø  Condition of roads will be improved
