JAMMU: A surprise check conducted by Minister for Health and Medical Education has brought forth a deep rooted nexus, active in Jammu and Kashmir Health Department since quite some time. It is being alleged that the medicos coming from ‘infuential’ families are enjoying at home by being absent from work on most days.

The minister found health centres at Shastri Nagar, Talab Khatikan and Talab Tillo closed. The absentees were marked during his visit to Urban Health Centres at Gujjar Nagar, Talab Khatikan, Sidhra, Bathindi, Sainik Colony, Shastri Nagar and Talab Tillo.

16 Medical Officers and 34 para medicos absent from duty, some of whom are on leave since two to three months. The absentees were reported to be out of station.
