Weatherman on Thursday predicted wet weather for next 24 to 36 hours in the state.
“We are expecting light to moderate snowfall in higher reaches of the Jammu and Kashmir and light rain/snow in plains of both the regions of the State during next 24 to 36 hours”, Director Metrological Department Sonum Lotus told.
He said that thereafter the weather will remain dry for nearly 10 days in the state.
Meanwhile, mercury plunged to -20 degrees Celsius in Kargil while as temperatures remained several degrees below the freezing point elsewhere in Kashmir Valley.
The Jammu city has recorded 6.7, degree Celsius; Banihal has recorded minus 0.4, Batote 1.0, Katra7.3 and Doda minus 0.2 degree Celsius
Srinagar, the summer capital of Jammu and Kashmir, had a low of -3.9 degrees Celsius, a MET department official said.
