In all, the agency named 12 accused in its nearly 13,000-page charge sheet who can be tried under the non-bailable Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act which entails punishment of seven years in jail if the charges are proven.
They have been accused of “conspiring to wage war against the government of India by carrying out terrorist and secessionist activities in Jammu and Kashmir”.
The chargesheet was filed in the court of Additional Sessions Judge Tarun Sherawat who is expected to take up the matter post lunch.
Those named as the accused include Hurriyat chairman Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s son-in-law Altaf Shah, businessman and two stone-pelters.
The accused persons charge-sheeted today are Hafiz Saeed, Syed Salahuddin, Aftab Ahmad Shah@ Shahid-ul-Islam, Altaf Ahmad Shah @ Fantoosh, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, Farooq Ahmad Dar @ Bitta Karate, Mohammad Akbar Khanday, Raja Mehrajuddin Kalwal, Bashir Ahmad Bhat, Zahoor Ahmad Shah Watali, Kamran Yusuf and Javed Ahmad Bhat.
