Sunayana Kachroo, a Kashmiri poetess and writer, has won accolades both in India and abroad.
Her book, “Waqt Se Pare” (Beyond Time, 2013) is currently in its second print.
Not only this, Sunayana’s short film “In search of America – Inshallah” was also selected for the Short Film Corner at Cannes 2015.
She has been recognised and awarded as one of the top-20 Women of the Year (2014) in New England.
“I received award of the top-20 Women of the Year (2014) for promoting literature and poetry. One of my friends asked me whether I will work for films so I agreed and we worked together for the film ‘In search of America – Inshallah’ and later we also worked on a short movie,” said Kachroo, writer and poet. Having received her education in Kashmir, Jammu and Pune, Sunayana shifted to the US in 2000.
“In 2000, I went to the US for a job and since then I am staying there. But my writings depict influences of childhood in Kashmir and of Pune. My writing and poetry shows what I have lived. Home is home. After travelling for several years, we feel better at home. The feeling of home is only in Kashmir,” said Kachroo. — ANI
