JK Police on target in valley; Mob thrashes officer’s wife, daughter

Srinagar, July 13: The wife and daughter of a police officer were allegedly beaten up by a mob on Tuesday protesting the killing of Hizbul commander Burhan Wani in Awantipora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
“A mob attacked the house of Sub Inspector Mohammad Ashraf Pal at Chandrigam and beat up his wife and daughter. Both were injured in the attack,” a police official said on condition of anonymity.

The injured duo were shifted to Sub District Hospital Awantipora where their condition is stated to be stable.
Pal, who is posted as duty officer at Sangam police post in Bibjehara area of Anantnag district, was not at home at the time of the attack.
The mob ransacked Pal’s house, causing extensive damage to the building, the official said.
