J&K Policeman arrested for Raping woman on pretext of marriage


A 32-year-old Jammu and Kashmir policeman was arrested from Srinagar for allegedly raping a woman on the pretext of marriage, the Delhi Police said on Monday.

The woman filed a complaint at Vasant Kunj (North) police station in Delhi, alleging that the accused, constable Adil Hassan, raped her repeatedly for two years.

The woman and the accused met through a dating portal. Adil Hassan visited her in Delhi and the two got intimate. She alleged that he raped her on the promise of marriage, but later backtracked on his promise, the police said.

According to the police, the accused has been identified as Adil Hassan, a constable with the Jammu & Kashmir police and posted at Budgam district of Kashmir.

” Recently, a 27-year-old woman had registered a complaint at the Vasant Kunj (North) police station about a Kashmiri cop who befriended her through a dating app and raped her on the pretext of marriage. Following which a team was sent to Kashmir and the accused was held. He was brought to the Delhi on transit remand,” said Devendra Arya, DCP (South West).

The police said that the local police helped the Delhi police in conducting raids and the accused was arrested from a house in Budgam.

The accused was arrested on Sunday, they added.
