SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 10: In an endeavor to maintain the beauty and ecology of the tourist destinations across the State, the Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department has decided to organize a “cleanliness week” or “safai ka hafta” from 15th to 22nd September.
A decision in this regard was taken Thursday, in a meeting chaired by the Secretary Tourism, Mr. Farooq Ahmad Shah. The CEOs of all the Tourism Development Authorities of the State and concerned tourist officers have been directed to involve locals including tourism stake holders in the said campaign to help maintain the beauty and cleanliness at the tourist destinations across the State.
It was also informed in the meeting that the Department has already proposed a comprehensive plan for scientific disposal of the waste produced in and around these destinations.
Pertinently sanitation at the tourist places is one of the top most priority of the Chief Minister who is also the Minister for tourism.
