J&K: Traffic disrupted for over 3 hours on highway, after speeding vehicle kills young boy

Traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway was disrupted for over three hours following massive protests after a Border Security Force (BSF) vehicle hit and killed a youth in south Kashmir Tuesday afternoon.
  The BSF driver has been arrested and a vehicle seized , a senior police officer said.
   Hundreds of people hit the streets at Vessu on the highway when a BSF vehicle hit and critically wounded a youth this afternoon. The youth later died in the hospital.
  The demonstrators blocked the highway at 1245 hrs with the results hundreds of vehicles got stranded on both sides.
   However, senior civil and police officials reached the spot and assured the agitators that action under law will be taken against the driver.
   It was only at 1600 hrs, demonstrators dispersed and allowed traffic on the highway. However, it took about one more hour to clear the traffic jam.
   Hundreds of vehicles, including those carrying essentials for Kashmir, besides other locals and Jammu bound vehicles were allowed to move towards their respective destinations.
  Senior police officer said that BSF authorities have handed over the driver and vehicle to police.
  We have registered a case and action will be taken as per law of the land, he said.
  Earlier, traffic police official had said that traffic on the highway was disrupted due to accident without giving any details.
