J&K : Two arrested for last month’s braid chopping incident in Kashmir


Police on Tuesday said that they have solved a braid chopping incident reported in the district last month by arresting two persons.

Briefing media persons at police station Ganderbal, SSP Ganderbal Fayaz Ahmed Lone said that a braid chopping incident was reported in Wakura area of Ganderbal district last month in which a girl alleged that her Braid was chopped off.

“After the incident we registered a case umder FIR number 14/17 at police station Ganderbal and took up the investigation and during the investigation the girl during an identification parade identified the two persons who had chopped off her Braid, adding that the identification parade was done in front of the magistrate” SSP said.

He said that both the persons have been arrested and further investigation have been taken up.


SSP said that as per initial investigation the duo who hail from Khag area had gone to area with the intention of a theft.

“They actually had gone to area for a burglary after taking advantage of Braid chopping as the people will move out of their homes and it will give them a safe passage to houses” SSP added.
