A prisoner on Tuesday escaped from police custody in north Kashmir’s Sopore area.
An official said that an inmate identified as Abdul Majeed Mir, 24, a resident of Tujjer Shareef area of Sopore town, who was under custody in police station Sopore, under a case FIR number 50 U/S 13 ULA has escaped from the police station.
The incident took place when police station Bomai in the apple town were transporting Abdul Majeed Mir, back to the police station soon after court hearing ended.
Police has launched manhunt to nab the fleeing inmate.
Mir was arrested in 2016 and is an under trial in a militancy related case.
