Jammu, Jan 18: Despite harsh cold wave conditions in summer zone, Director School Education (DSE) has decedided that the winter vacations in the summer zone of Jammu region will not be extended any further. Earlier the winter vacations were extended from 16th January t 18th January. But, today DSE told U4UVoice that winter vacations will not be extended beyond 18th January.
Although the parents are demanding extension of winter vacations due to an intense cold wave across the northern India including Jammu and Kashmir and fresh warning of more harsh winters in future, in Jammu region- which is reeling under cold wave.
Pertinently the Chandigarh-based Snow and Avalanche Study Establishment (SASE) has issued the warning that would be valid for the 24 – 48 hours starting Jan 22 in some avalanche-prone districts of Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh and now the western disturbances has again turned weather hostile and fresh warning of snowfall has been issued by the weatherman.
After two days of respite, fresh snowfall has been predicted. The intense cold wave has already gripped Kishtwar, Rajouri, Doda, Ramban, Poonch and upper reaches of Reasi and Kathua of Jammu region. The plains of Jammu region including the winter capital of state are also under the grip of cold wave.
Though parents called upon the government to further extend the winter holidays, it tuened futile as authorities clerly denied orders of any further extension.

while some has urged authorities to adopt some daylight saving time so that school going children may not be exposed to cold wave.
