Jammu, November 05: If media reports are to be believed, the highest body for recruitment of Gazetted Officers for the J&K Government known as Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (JKPSC) has earned at least four crore rupees from selling examination forms in last two years.
The information has been revealed in the reply to a RTI filed by an activist in PSC seeking details about money generated from the un-employed educated youth.
While responding the RTI, Public Information Officer- cum- Law officer of JKPSC sent a communication through letter No. PSC/RTI/Adm/59/2015 dated 27/10/205 along with copies of letter sent to JKPSC by the Branch heads of Amirakadal branch and Rail Head Complex branch of the Jammu and Kashmir Bank.
The manager of the Amirakadal branch, J&K bank informed the activist that the total amount of fees collected in the bank by selling examination forms during the period 01/01/2014 to 13/09/2015 is Rs 3,48,92832 (Rupees Three Crore Forty Eight Lakhs Ninety Two Thousand Eight Hundred and Thirty Two ) has been credited to the account of JKPSC.
The manager has also informed the activist that the said amount is only for account No. CD 3013. During the same period the bank branch has also received service charges or commission during the same period of Rs 1,16,840.
Adding to this, the manager of Rail Head Complex, Jammu branch of J&K Bank, has informed that an amount of Rs. 50, 88, 034. (Rupees fifty Lakh Eighty Eight Thousand and Thirty four) had been deposited in the account of JKPSC No. 0008 from sale of all types of form w.e.f 01/01/2014 to 13/09/2015.
It is pertinent to mention here, there is a aggression among the unemployed youth, political parties, social activists for charging hefty amount in the name of selling forms for several examinations for different kinds of posts in the government sector. Also, there is a wide spread demand to reduce this but JKPSC does not care too hoots.
