SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 10: Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, Saturday hoped that the resolution passed unanimously by the State Legislature on Friday will help restore confidence of the people in the secular fabric of the country.
The Chief Minister was speaking during the Motion of Thanks on the concluding day of the Autumn Session of the Legislative Assembly, here today.
Asking people to protect the country’s multicultural ethos and inclusiveness, Mufti Sayeed said Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, won overwhelming mandate of the people for taking country forward on the path of development. “United we stand, divided we fall. Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas is not a mere slogan but a clear message that hatred will lead us nowhere,” he stated.
Emphasising upon safeguarding the sanctity of the Legislative Assembly, Mufti Sayeed called upon the Opposition and Treasury benches to draw the line and maintain dignity of the House. “I am thankful to the opposition for playing a constructive role during the brief session of the Assembly,” he added.
The Chief Minister said he was first elected to the Assembly in 1962 when Bakshi Ghulam Mohammad was the Prime Minister of the state. He said over the years he is impressed by the improvement in the quality of debate. “Some of the members in the House are really good and with their articulation, they have been able to highlight certain important issues of their constituencies,” he added.
