JAMMU: On the directions of Mandeep Kaur, IAS, Commissioner, JMC, Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Municipal Veterinary Officer along with staff of cattle pond launched the drive against illegal dairies running within the limits of JMC today.
The drive was launched from Sarwal area and on spot one dairy near Justice Bhat lane, Lower Laxmi Nagar Sarwal has been closed by the team of JMC and the owner shifted all the cattle to the remote area. Further, the team lifted the livestock of the dairy running at Sarwal near graveyard and impounded these cattle at Dogra Hall, Jammu as the disposal of this dairy is directly into public drain creating insanitary conditions in and around the dairy and also made cruelty to these animals.
Team also set free the birds (Parrots etc) kept in the cages by the owners Rorain di Chapri, Jamipur Jammu and booked the defaulter under law.
Application forms for registering the dairy unit along with other details are available online at Jammu Municipal Corporation website: www.jmcjammu.org.in or can be obtained from the office of Municipal Veterinary Officer, Dogra Hall, Jammu.
The drive will remain continue till all the dairy units are not registered with the Corporation. Jammu Municipal Corporation appeals to the owners of the dairy units for registration of their dairies immediately otherwise their cattle shall be seized and impounded in cattle pond.
