JMC Launches extensive cleanliness drive

Jammu, Nov 19: While continuing cleanliness drive apart from routine sanitation drive, JMC launched an extensive sanitation drive in Bakshi Nagar, Talab Tillo areas of ward no. 27, 28 & 31 as a part of programme on sustained basis.

The cleanliness campaign was led by Sh. R.S. Jamwal, KAS, Joint Commissioner (A) Municipal Corporation Jammu alongwith Dr. Saleem Khan, Health Officer, JMC and Dr. Zaffar Iqbal, Municipal Veterinary Officer/Zonal Officer-II (Sanitation), JMC, Sanitation Officer, XEN(C), XEN(T), Assistant Sanitation Officer, Sanitary Inspector & Supervisory staff on the directions of Mandeep Kaur (IAS) Commissioner JMC. Prominent persons namely Sh. Ayodhya Gupta, Jeet Angral, Tripta Jamwal, Prem Gupta, Suresh Gupta , Ashish Gupta , Jai Deep Singh Sambyal, Naresh Thapa, Master Ramesh Ji and other citizens of the area were also present.


On this occasion, a large number of locals were also involved in this awareness cum cleanliness drive to make it a mass movement and the area has been cleaned thoroughly. The Transport Officer was directed by Joint Commissioner (Adm) to clear/desilt the nallahas of the area as pointed out by locals.


The Jammu Municipal Corporation once again appeals to one & all to come forward and be a pride participant in this awareness/cleanliness drive to make it a mass movement so that “Swachh Bharat is a reality” in coming days.


JMC once again appeals to all the shopkeepers not to encroach footpaths & pavements due to the encroachment upon foothpaths & pavements and parking their vehicles on unauthorized places causes difficulties which led to traffic jams and unnecessary delay in regular traffic. JMC also appeals to general public to avoid using polythene as polythene is the major cause of pollution because polythene never decompose due to which pollution spreads our surroundings, and do not throw it into the nallahs/lanes/drains, throwing of polythene causes choking of nallahs and it also create huge problem to inhabitants surroundings there. Stagnation of waste water in nallhs are the habitat of mosquitoes and other germs which can harm us and our infants.

Beside this, team of SKCs also deputed to clean Dewan Mandir Complex and Mubarak Mandi during the heritage week, huge garbage was collected and lifted by JMC and also sprinkle lime there.

The function held at both the places and presided by Hon’ble Minister of State for Education , Mrs. Priya Sethi and Hon’ble MLA East, Mr. Rajesh Gupta. Secretary to Govt., Department of Culture , Civil Secretariat Jammu and VC, JDA were also present
