Jammu, Oct 01: The Jammu Municipal Corporation as a part of weeklong clean Jammu City Abhiyan to mark the 1st Anniversary of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan”, on 6th day in a row organized a programme at Trikuta Nagar, Jammu with the co-operation of Trikuta Nagar Welfare Association and Trikuta Nagar Development Council. On this occasion the rally was flagged off by Sh. Jugal Kishore Sharma Hon’ble Member Parliament and by Ms. Mandeep Kaur, IAS, Commissioner, Jammu Municipal Corporation in the presence of Sh. Vikram Gaur, Sh. Nitish Mahajan, Sh. Bal Krishan Gupta and Sh. Ashok Kalsotra alongwith other office bearers of the Association and Council and other Prominent Citizens of the area. The rally started from Mini Market Trikuta Nagar comprising of Students from Government Higher Secondary School Channi Himmat and Government Higher Secondary School Sunjwan, Jammu, Government Polytechnic College and Volunteers of Sulabh International which after passing through the main Bazar culminated at JDA Park Trikuta Nagar, Jammu and during the rally the students were displaying the pla cards and making the people aware of the importance of cleanliness for making “Swachh Jammu and Swatsh Jammu.” In the park a colorful cultural programme was organized where Sh. Kavinder Gupta Hon’ble Speaker Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly was Chief Guest and was also attended by the other dignitaries and promin.ciation and welcome address by Sh. Ashok Kalsotra General Secretary Trikuta Nagar Development Council in the hounor of Chief Guest. As a customary, First of all an oath was administered for cleanliness, wherein, it was pledged by all to keep the environment neat and clean and to spare 100 hours every year to dedicate himself/herself for doing the cleanliness and hoped that this step would lead to make India clean. Thereafter, the short play was staged by the artists of Abha Theater Group and a song was also presented by Employees of Jammu Municipal Corporation by giving message to one and all for keeping the surrounding cleans and a step taken by everyone in this direction would lead for making the City more Clean.
The Hon’ble Speaker while addressing the gathering emphasized that it is the duty of everyone to contribute in the ongoing awareness programme for making the Jammu Clean as the clean surroundings and environment keeps the disease away besides giving an aesthetic look to the City. He appreciated the work done by Municipal Commissioner and her team during this awareness programme taking it as a challenge with a mission to accomplish the task.
The programme was concluded with vote of thanks presented on the behalf of Jammu Municipal Corporation thanking the office Bearers and Members of Trikuta Nagar Welfare Association, Trikuta Nagar Development Council, Students, faculty members of Schools & Colleges, Volunteers of Sulabh International, Artists of Abha Theater Group, Police, Traffic Police and other Government Departments, Press and Electronic Media, Prominent Citizens who rendered their support and co-operation in making the programme a success.
Besides this, while continuing and further intensifying the drive against the use of polythene carry bags the Enforcement Staff as a part of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan” conducted the drive in the area of Trikuta Nagar, Jammu and inspected the different shops in the area. During the drive the team seized Polythene Carry Bags and charged Rs. 11500.00 (Rupees eleven thousand five hundred) as compounding fee from the defaulters on spot for using the polythene carry bags. The team also made the people aware of the ban on the use of polythene carry bags and were requested to discard the polythene carry bags and use the Bags made of Bio-degradable material to carry their goods and other commodities.
