Continuing its drive against the illegal encroachment of government land the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) under the direction of Commissioner Ms. Mandeep Kaur (IAS) and under the supervision of Joint Commissioner Mr. R.S Jamwal (KAS) removed illegal hoardings and pole-kiosks situated at various places of Jammu city. With the joint effort of enforcement team led by Kamini Kesar (Chief enforcement officer), team of transport department led by Mr. Talat Mehmood Khan (chief transport officer) and team of Jammu & Kashmir Police dismantled and removed almost all illegal hoardings which obstructed the smooth movement of pedestrians from footpaths and various other government lands.
The drive which started from areas near the Civil Secretariat covered many major places of Jammu city like B.R Amedkar chowk (near Panama chowk), Rajinder Singh chowk , areas adjacent to Bahu Fort, Valmiki Colony and General Zorawar Singh chowk (near Bahu Plaza) and continued their drive against illegal encroachment even after 1 in the night.
Though the officials did not give any official statement but confirmed that no legal actions are being considered against the offenders at the moment but urged people to cooperate with JMC to make Jammu city more beautiful and warned the encroaching parties of stern action. Reliable Sources said that JMC will erect their hoardings in a legally bound manner and will release tenders for them.
Illegal encroachment of government land remains one of the major hurdles in development and beautification of our Jammu city.
I urge all the netizens of Jammu to be aware and report any such illegal encroachment to the concerned authorities at the earliest. Hope JMC will continue the good work and also take action against the ones occupying the footpaths which deprives the pedestrians to walk over them.
