Jora visits Rakh-I-Arth, inspects works in progress
SRINAGAR: Minister for Urban Development and Urban Local Bodies, Nawang Rigzin Jora Wednesday visited Rakh-e-Arth Bemina and took stock of the works being carried for the rehabilitation of Dal dwellers there.
Secretary, Housing and Urban Development, Mr. Satesh Nehru, Vice-Chairman, LAWDA, Mr. Shafaat Noor Barlas besides other officers accompanied the Minister.
The Minister inspected the filling work, drainage and sewerage network and other works including Health Centre, Community Hall and allied works at Housing Colony Rakh-I-Arth Bemina.
The officers apprised the Minister about current position of the work being carried out including approach & internal roads, earth filling of plots, status of water supply, electricity and drainage network, besides facilities like schools, parks and shop lines. The Minister was told that sewerage work on 6558 meters and drainage work of length 6000 meters has already been completed and rest of the work is being executed speedily.
Directing the officers to execute the work on war footing, Mr. Jora said that water supply, electricity and other basic facilities should be provided to all the residents of the housing colony.
During his visit the residents of the colony met the Minister and raised several issues regarding availability of basic facilities there. The Minister gave them a patient hearing and assured that all their genuine demands will be met on priority.
Rakh-I Arth is a Rehabilitation & Resettlement Project for Dal Dwellers with an area of 7526 kanals to be developed in a phase-wise manner at an estimated cost of Rs. 416.72 crores.
