Jammu, July 19: Jammu Tourism Action Committee (JTAC) has expressed serious concern over clash at Baltal, the base camp of Shree Amarnath Yatra via that route, as a result of which Yatra via that route was suspended.
Describing the incident as failure of the administration, falsifying its claim of fool proof security arrangements for pilgrims and the pilgrimage, JTAC Convenor Inderjeet Khajuria said that this isolated incident of group clash should not be allowed to vitiate the peaceful conduct of Shree Amarnath Yatra.
“The Amarnath pilgrimage is traditionally a symbol of communal harmony and brotherhood, with members of all the communities contributing towards its smooth and successful conduct. The local stakeholders as well as the voluntary organisations from outside the state, which put up Langars en-route Yatra are essential part of the pilgrimage and contribute to its smooth and successful conduct, he maintained.
He further demanded the losses suffered by the langar organisations and tentage accommodation providers should be fully compensated and the administration and the SASB should provide all the facilities of lodging and boarding to the pilgrims and replace all the tents set ablaze by the miscreants.
