Jammu, August 12: One more prominent example of favoritism and manipulated the rules in Jammu University (JU) comes to light when For the post of lecturer two separate notifications were set up by the administration with different eligibility criteria.
The notification was issued by JU officials for the post of lecturer (contractual) in Remote Sensing & GIS.
In notification number Adm/TW/C&R/15/119 issued on 03/07/2015, the varsity invited applications, saying, “Good academic record as defined by the concerned university with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) at the Master’s Degree level in a relevant subject from an Indian university, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university. NET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment and appointment of lecturers in Universities/Colleges/ Institutions. Provided, however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D. degree in compliance of the University Grant Commission Regulation, 2009, shall be exempted from the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SET for recruitment and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in Universities/Colleges/Institutions.”
However, another (notification number Adm/C&R/14/1472-1522, dated 18/07/2014), read: “For the post of Assistant Professor (Remote Sensing an GIS), good academic record with at least 55% marks at the Master’s degree level in Remote Sensing and GIS/Geology/ Geography/Botany/Environmental Science/Geo Informatics from an Indian University.”
It has been found that the second clause of the notification was same as in the previous notification, but III and IV clauses of the previous notification have not been added to the recent one.
Sources said the eligibility criteria were deliberately tailored by the In-charge Deputy Registrar Teaching Wing and Programme Coordinator Remote Sensing and GIS for unknown reasons.
