JU students protest ; demand fast track investigation in GMC Molestation case

Jammu – The students of Jammu University carried out a protest march in the campus today (21 Feb) at 11 am against the lenient attitude of the Govt. to pursue the investigation in the case of molestation of a girl in the premises of GMC, Jammu. The students showed solidarity with victim of the incident and emphasised on the grave issue that’s substantially present but seldom noticed.

The accused, Dr. Bhupesh Khajuria, Head of the Department of Forensic Medicine had been booked on the charges of molesting a final year student of MBBS. The girl had alleged that the doctor called her to his room for discussing the result of her examination and after sometime, he tried to molest her. She somehow ran out of his room and then contacted her parents. (indianexpress.com)

The protesters demanded fast-track investigation in the case. Tsering Nordan, one of the protesters said,”We demand that the case must be treated in the fast-track court”. Jammu has witnessed increased number of cases in sexual harassment in past few months. The security of women at workplaces and outdoors is a critical concern. She added, “We also demand a special cell (Govt. body) for Women in J&K who face such problems in everyday life.”
