JU VC in trouble; demands to sack him raised at Cabinet meeting

Jammu and Kashmir News

In the recent State Cabinet meeting, the activities of the Jammu University Vice Chancellor were put to question. The BJP members have accused the Chancellor of intervening with the students union and have raised the matter with the Chief Minister. If reports in media are to be believed, demands to sack the VC have also be raised with the pro-chancellor.
As per the reports, the Chancellor has been implicated with using autocratic means with the students. Teachers and Research Scholars have also complained against his wicked and vicious behaviour.
Recently, all the students union activities have been halted as per the orders given by the VC. A blood donation camp was supposed to be held on the 23rd of March this year that was initiated by the ABVP (Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad), but the permission to organise it within the campus was denied.
Later, however, the members of the union did conduct the donation camp outside the premises of the University. What is instigating is the fact that from the past many years the students of the University have been organising same Blood Donation camps within the confines of the University campus, however this time, they were refused.
The ABVP is not the only students union to have faced this prohibition, others have been going through the same.
Being the Pro-Chancellor of the University, the Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, has been approached by the students who want her to intervene the matter. The CM on the other hand, has assured the students that she will discuss the matter with the Governor. Meanwhile, she has urged the students to maintain tranquility within the campus.
