JAMMU: The Jammu university Teachers Association (JUTA), a body of University teachers of University of Jammu today decided to donate one day of their salary for the devastating floods that have hit the state of Jammu and Kashmir.
A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting of the Executive Council of Jammu University Teachers’ Association held here under the chairmanship of its JUTA president Prof Dalip Singh Jamwal.
All the JUTA executive members expressed their condolences to the bereaved families and observed a two-minute silence.Showing solidarity with the affected people of the State, Jammu University Teachers’ Association (JUTA) decided to help in the ongoing relief operations by donating their one-day salary towards the Prime Minister Relief Fund.
Speaking at the occasion, JUTA President said that JUTA members have always shown such gestures in difficult times in the past. The JUTA members also appealed to the government that in order to face such disasters, the State should put in place adequate measures/ infrastructure so as minimize the loss of lives and property.
All the members were appreciative of the help extended to the victims by the defence forces and the NDRF.
