Karnail Singh: The second Uri Martyr from Jammu
Jammu, 19 Sept: The cowardly Uri attack on sleeping soldiers in the wee hours on Sunday claimed lives of 17 of Indian Army Jawans. From Jammu, two brave men of the Dogra Regiment, Havildar Ram Paul of Samba and Subedar Karnail Singh who was a resident of Village Shibu Chak in Bishnah also fell victim to the biggest attack on security forces in two decades.
When the information of Karnail’s martyrdom reached Shibu Chak, a pall of gloom set in the village. None of the 150 families cooked food last night as a sign of respect for the martyr.
Singh had spoken to his family members just a night before the attack by the suicide attackers ad was due to be taking a holiday to come and spend time at home.
Karnail Singh has not come but only did the news of his sacrificing his life in the line of duty. At present the Singh’s family is waiting for the mortal remains to arrive.
Singh is survived by a mother, wife and three children. His family has requested the government of India to take revenge so that the soldiers do not loose hope in their professions.
Subedar Karnail Singh’s unit was to shift to Pathankot just next month but before anything could materialise, the attack claimed the lives of 17 men.
