Kashmir boy wins gold in 9th International Mathematics Olympiad

Srinagar, March 14: A student of Class third from remote Aharbal village in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, won a gold medal in the 9th International Mathematics Olympiad.

Viqar Majeed Magray, a Class third student of Kids Career Public School, secured second rank in India and 104th international rank in the Olympiad exams.

These were held by the Science Olympiad Foundation in October- November 2015, the results of which were out recently.

The Science Olympiad Foundation promotes science, mathematics, computer education and English language skills among school children across the country.

During the academic year 2014-15, over 31,500 schools from 1,400 cities registered and millions of students appeared for the four Olympiad exams.

These Olympiads were conducted across 19 countries.
