Kashmir : Encounter rags in Qazigund after attack on Army, militants trapped

Srinagar : A gunfight broke out between hiding militants and Government forces at Bounigam area of Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.

Militants after carrying out an attack on army patrol leaving a soldier injured, fled away and took shelter inside a building, sources said.

As the joint team of forces intensified the searches to trace out the hiding attackers, the hiding militants fired upon forces triggering an encounter.

Intermittent firing was going on when reports last came in.

Atleast three Armymen are said to have received bullet injury after militants attacked patrol party at Bounigam area of Qazigund in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Monday.

Official sources told that a group of militants opened indiscriminate fire upon army’s patrolling party in Bounigam in Qazigund leaving two soldiers injured. Soon after the attack army along with additional reinforcement launched a cordon and search operation to the nab the assailants.

SSP Kulgam Shridhar Patil told GNS that a cordon gas been launched trace out the militant who are likely hiding inside a building in the area.
