Kashmir inmates ‘attacked’ in Tihar jail

Srinagar : Family of Rafiq Ahmad Shah, a youth detained in Tihar Jail since 2005, has accused that the other inmates, mostly criminals, have attacked and injured him seriously.

Shah’s family accused that he, besides other inmates, has been attacked inside the fortified jail and that no serious effort from the authorities to prevent such incidents has been taken so far.

Shah’s father told  that likewise attacks have been carried on the detained Kashmir youth in the past as well and that the government acts as a mute spectator over the issue.

Hurriyat Conference (G) Chairman Syed Ali Geelani while condemning the attack on Kashmir detainees in the Tihar jail stated that such acts shall not be tolerated at any cost.

“Criminals inside the jail have been given a freehand to unleash terror on Kashmir youth and International Red Cross and international human rights organizations must look into the matter,” Geelani said over phone from Delhi.
