Kashmir : LeT militant arrested in Handwara, 2 hideouts busted

Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a “hardcore” over ground worker (OGW) of the Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) militant outfit & on his instance busted two hideouts.

An official said that Affaq Ahmad Bhat alias Abu Huraira son of Mohammad Akbar Bhat , a resident of Panditpura, was arrested by Handwara police after it acted on a “specific information”.

Police said Bhat, was involved in providing logistic support to militant Abu Maaz of the LeT.

“Handwara police has also busted two hideouts maintained by the said OGW Affaq,” said the official.

“Huge cache of ammunition including 01 pistol, 02 Pistol Magazines, 11 pistol rounds, 02 wireless sets, 01 Ysms set, 04 mobile sets, 01 UBGL thrower, 01 UBGL Grenade, 02 AK magazines, 105 AK rounds, 02 compass, 01 Binocular, 01 Wire cutter, 05 Battery chargers, 48 Batteries, First Aid (Made in Pakistan), medicines /Cotton Bandage, 02 Cooking Flames, 01 Perfume, 02 Maps, 01 Jacket, 02 Bags and Cosmetics etc were recovered from the hideouts.”
