Two policemen were martyred and another injured after terrorists attacked a check post at a court complex in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district.
The terrorists fired at the police guard post in an attack shortly before dawn this morning. The terrorists stole the rifles and ammunition of the two policemen and fled. The two policemen were identified as Ghulam Rasool and Ghulam Hassan.
The injured cop Manzoor Ahmad has been shifted to SMHS hospital for treatment, they said.
“Terrorists opened fire at the police picket that was guarding the district court complex in Pulwama town in the early hours of the morning today,” a Jammu and Kashmir police spokesperson said today.
He also said that “the two policemen retaliated the firing by terrorists, but were killed in the exchange of gunfire. The area has been cordoned off and further details are awaited.
Tuesday’s attack took place on the holiest Muslim night of ‘Shab-e-Qadra’ when devotees in the pray for penance and peace.
In another attack that took place in Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir, at least 10 CRPF jawans sustained minor injuries after they were attacked by terrorists with grenades in Sadar at around 3 am today. Following the incident, the injured jawans were admitted to hospital. The attack comes days after Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh visited Jammu and Kashmir to analyse law and order situation in the state.
