Kashmir Woman wins National Florence Nightingale Award; 2nd one to do so

Srinagar, May 12: Munira Kachroo, an Associate Professor at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) was Thursday awarded the prestigious “National Florence Nightingale”.

Munira was awarded the prestigious title by president Pranab Mukherjee at a function at Rashtrapati Bhawan New Delhi.

May 12 is notably celebrated as International Nurses Day and this is the second consecutive year that a Kashmir nurse has won this award and has brought laurels to her state.

Previously, Rehana Kounsar, for her tremendous work in nursing at Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), was felicitated with the National Florence Nightingale Award in 2015.

Despite this Kounsar has brought various achievements to her credit and has been working as a staff nurse since 1994.

She has also worked for cancer patients and had provided maximum help to people during the devastating floods in Kashmir.
