Kashmiri widow’s family shattered by court’s verdict
Srinagar: Yesterday’s verdict has left Zaina and her family in tears. The little ray of hope, that Salman’s assurance gave them has been taken away from her. Zaina was awake the night before the verdict was to be announced, praying at the revered Ashmuqam shrine for Salman’s acquittal. The verdict shattered her from inside, receding her back to her life of misery and powerty.
Salman Khan, who had come to Kashmir for shooting of his upcoming film ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’, was approached by a 75 year old Zaina Begum, seeking for help to support her family.
Reportedly, 75 years old Zaina Begum had been struggling along with her 40 year old widow daughter. She struggles every day to raise and support her four grandchildren, who moved in with her after the unfortunate incident took their father.
After Zaina approached Salman, the actor told Zaina’s eldest grandson that he could be with him till he finishes up the Kashmir shoot of his upcoming film Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Once the shooting is done, he can fly to Mumbai and work with the actor.
A lull has descended on Ahmad’s family with Salman’s bail the only hope for the shattered family. “We found Salman an extremely down to earth human being. When he met us he put his hand on our heads and promised help. He behaved as a commoner and not as superstar. I can’t express my feeling. We have not had anything since morning,” said Khalida, granddaughter of Zainab, who met Salman Khan at Pahalgam.
“It was our misfortune that Salman was convicted. Otherwise we had hoped for better days after suffering in silence for years. We pray that he gets bail because our future is hinged with the actor’s fate,” she added.
