Winter has knocked in Kashmir yesterday as Affarwat, Sonmarg and some areas near Amarnath Cave received season’s first snowfall.
Srinagar and plains of Valley were surrounded by clouds but the climate mostly remained dry and warm. The fresh snowfall has brought relief from the heat for the people living in low-lying areas.
Meteorological Department (MeT) has forecast snowfall for 24 hours in the mountainous regions.
The MeT department said that the maximum temperature in Srinagar was recorded at 24.5 Degree Celsius yesterday and the minimum temperature was recorded at 8.9 Degree Celsius.
The snowfall has compelled the people to pull out woollens from their wardrobes to keep themselves warm.
