Katra business community locks horns with Shrine Board, shutsdown
Katra: The business community and traders of Katra town are observing complete bandh today against the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB).
According to them, the Shrine Board had guaranteed them that the newly constructed route connecting Katra with Adhkunwari will be used only during emergency but there are clear indications that this new route will be open for the pilgrims soon, no matter what the situation is, which will heavily affect the business of the local people. During bandh all shops will remain closed and questions on the management of Shrine Board will also be raised.
“We have been raising or demands for a long time but the Shrine Board does not listen to us. We want Shrine Board to clarify details related to the use of new route. During 2014 elections the Prime Minister himself assured us that our demands will be met. Currently, BJP is running a massive training program in the state in which senior party leaders are taking part. Therefore, the community strongly believes that this best time to remind them their promises, “said a member of association.
