Owing to the rich minerals in the soil of Kishtwar, it is said that a special quality is being imparted to the wheat or straw which makes it shiny and velvety.
This extraordinary quality makes it easy for the weavers to make quality products. The straw is then used to produce round mats, trays, containers etc of fine quality.
